Depression is one of the most common mental disorders worldwide, characterized by symptoms such as sadness, lethargy, and a general loss of interest in life. Similarly, anxiety is prevalent and marked by persistent worry and nervousness.

Interestingly, studies suggest that regular consumption of omega-3 fatty acids is associated with a lower risk of depression. Furthermore, individuals with depression or anxiety who begin taking omega-3 supplements often experience symptom improvement.

Omega-3 fatty acids come in three forms: ALA, EPA, and DHA. Among these, EPA appears to be the most effective in combating depression. In fact, one study found that EPA was as effective as standard antidepressant medication for treating depression.
